Postpartum Support

Traditional In-Home Doula Care for the Fourth Trimester
Best for families within the first 4 months after birth

Because let’s be real: bringing home a baby is magical… and completely overwhelming. There’s joy, exhaustion, love, maybe a little grief, and definitely a lot of β€œwhat the heck am I doing?”

You don’t have to figure it out alone.

In-home postpartum support gives you expert, hands-on help in those raw, beautiful, sleep-deprived first months β€” whether you’re navigating recovery, feeding struggles, or just trying to remember the last time you ate something warm.

With over a decade of experience, I help families feel less frazzled and more held during this major transition β€” emotionally, physically, and logistically.

β€œMothering the Mother” Isn’t Just a Saying β€” It’s a Plan

Your body just did something incredible. Now you deserve to recover in peace, with expert support that helps you focus on healing and bonding instead of just surviving.

β€œNew mothers need to be mothered, to be nurtured and cared for by a support network that assists with physical recovery from birth, transition into infant care and the immense psychological leap into a new role.”
-Lauren Porter

FAQs

  • Think of a postpartum doula as your calm, capable, non-judgy sidekick in the chaos of new parenthood. I’m here to help you heal, rest, feed your baby (and yourself), and make sense of all the β€œis this normal?” moments.

From emotional check-ins and baby care tips to light chores and feeding support, I bring expert guidance and real-life help β€” so you can feel less overwhelmed and more confident in those tender early weeks. Basically? I mother you so you can focus on loving your baby.

  • Every family’s needs are different β€” and that’s the beauty of doula care. I show up ready to meet your unique situation with the kind of hands-on help and emotional support that makes a real difference.

Here are just a few things I might help with during a shift:

βœ“ Supporting infant and parent sleep patterns (without pressure or gimmicks)

βœ“ Feeding help β€” whether that’s breastfeeding, bottle, or combo

βœ“ Recovery tips for your healing body (yes, even the parts no one talks about)

βœ“ Newborn care guidance and confidence-building

βœ“ Gentle check-ins for postpartum mood concerns

βœ“ Local referrals for lactation, therapy, bodywork, and more

βœ“ Light housekeeping, laundry, and meal prep β€” including cultural/religious traditions

βœ“ Sibling support (because big feelings happen!)

βœ“ Baby gear suggestions that actually work for your lifestyle

Basically, if it helps you feel calmer, more supported, or better rested β€” I’m in.

  • Emotional support means I’m your safe space when everything feels like a lot β€” which, let’s be honest, is often.

I’m here to hold space for the tears, the joy, the β€œwhat just happened?” moments, and everything in between. That might look like helping you process your birth experience, normalize what you’re feeling as a new parent, or just sitting with you while you cry into your cold coffee.

No judgment. No advice unless you want it. Just someone who gets it walking alongside you while we figure it out together. Because the road to parenthood isn’t always smooth β€” but you don’t have to walk it alone.

  • Every shift starts with a check-in β€” we chat about how you’re doing (really doing), what baby needs, and what’s feeling overwhelming today. Then we make a loose plan for how I can be most helpful in this moment.

Sometimes that means holding the baby while you nap or shower. Other times it’s talking through feeding challenges, tidying up the kitchen, prepping a snack, or just being there so you’re not doing it all alone.

No two shifts look the same β€” because no two days in postpartum life are the same. I show up ready to meet you exactly where you’re at, with support that’s flexible, responsive, and deeply human.

  • At the start of our shift, we usually spend about an hour checking in β€” talking through how things are going, how you’re feeling, and reviewing the feeding plan for the night (whether that’s nursing, bottles, pumping, or a combo).

As we settle into a rhythm, that check-in might shrink to a quick 5-minute handoff so you can get right to sleep β€” and I’ll handle the rest.

Once you’re off-duty, I take over baby care so you can rest, recover, and maybe even dream. I’ll keep track of feeds, diaper changes, and anything worth noting so you’re in the loop without having to be awake for it.

In the morning, I’ll either gently transition things back to you (quietly, of course) or leave an update via note, baby log, or text if you’re still catching those precious last Zzzs. And yes β€” I lock the door behind me and sneak out like a postpartum fairy godmother.

  • Short answer: sometimes β€” but only if everything else is under control.

Between feedings, diaper changes, soothing, bottle/pump part washing, laundry, and whatever else your baby or home needs, there’s often not much downtime. But if all the tasks are caught up and baby is settled, I’ll rest lightly while staying available for the next wake-up.

A couch, spare bed, or even a mattress pad on the floor is more than enough β€” I’m not looking for luxury, just a spot to recharge so I can stay sharp and responsive for your little one.

My priority is always baby’s care and your rest. If I can sneak in a little sleep between those responsibilities, I will β€” but I’m always β€œon” for anything your family needs overnight.

  • It’s a fair question β€” and here’s the honest answer: You’re not just paying for someone to hold the baby while you shower (though, yes, that’s part of the magic). You’re investing in expert, personalized care for one of the most intense transitions of your life.

In the Seattle/Tacoma area, postpartum doulas typically charge $40–$75/hour β€” and here’s why:

βœ“ We’re trained to support your recovery β€” physically, emotionally, and mentally

βœ“ We offer hands-on newborn care and teach you what to do when we’re not there

βœ“ We help calm the chaos, reduce overwhelm, and build your confidence as new parents

βœ“ We bring years of professional experience and up-to-date, evidence-based knowledge

I’ve been doing this work since 2008 β€” with passion, heart, and a commitment to continuing education. I spend thousands every year on trainings and resources to make sure I’m giving your family the most current, relevant, and compassionate care possible.

And let’s be real: Amazon might be fast, but I show up with supplies, tips, and emotional support before you can even click β€œbuy now.”

Behind every hour I spend in your home is a whole business I run: gas, gear, insurance, scheduling systems, admin, continuing ed β€” it adds up. But so does the value of having someone in your corner who knows exactly how to support you during postpartum.

On a tight budget? Let’s talk. I’m all about helping you feel confident, calm, and connected β€” and I’ll work with you to get the most value possible from our time together.
